Proposed changes to the UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa

September 14, 2019

The UK government have recently published proposals to significantly change the existing UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa.

The UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa will soon be replaced by a new business ‘Innovator Route’. Applicants will therefore only have until spring 2019 to submit an application under the existing Tier 1 Entrepreneur route.

The new ‘Innovator Route’

The new innovator route will have more of an emphasis on experienced business people. Therefore making it difficult for those prospective applicants who may wish to start a business for the first time or have a desire to set-up a business in the UK.

The prospective applicant will be required to secure an endorsement by a business sponsor who will assess the applicant’s business ideas for their innovation, viability and scalability.
Further details on the new innovator route will be provided by the UK government in due course.

Given that applications are still being accepted under the existing UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa, please feel free to contact Muldoon Britton on +44161 826 6922 if you have any questions in relation to the proposed changes or regarding the existing Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa.
