UK Immigration Updates 2024
January 31, 2024
We finally have confirmed dates for upcoming changes to the UK’s Immigration Rules, which we have mentioned in previous posts. The general dates to bear in mind are as follows:
- From 11 March 2024, Health and Care Worker migrants will no longer be permitted to bring dependants with them to the UK.
- From 4 April 2024, the minimum threshold for Skilled Worker migrants will rise from £26,200 to £38,700. Migrants coming to the UK on the Health and Care Worker route will be exempted from this specific threshold, in addition to workers on national pay scale occupations. Furthermore, the 20% discount for shortage occupations is due to be removed from this date, and these roles will instead be added to a new “Immigration Salary List”.
- From 11 April 2024, the minimum income threshold for family visas will increase to £29,000 per annum. The UK government will incrementally increase the minimum income threshold to £34,500, and finally to £38,700 by early 2025. No dates have been confirmed for the latter two figures as yet.
